Dying for Change: Innovations in end of Life Care

A few events are going on in the Sydney Social Innovation space, these may or may not be applicable to you, or they may pique your interest. Please feel free to give us feedback.

Palliative care is definetly an area of growth, where social innovation is crucial, especially as the population continues to age.

Charles Leadbeater, leading authority on innovation and creativity and the co-author of the UK report ‘Dying for Change‘, will be in Sydney June 13.

What are the opportunities and barriers to social innovation in End of Life Care? What would aradically transformed end of life care sector look like in Australia?

From 3pm-6pm Charles Leadbeater will then join us in a dynamic and interactive afternoon to discuss the following:

  • The UK report Dying for Change key findings and recommendations
  • Examples of innovations in end of life care
  • Reinventing and transforming death and dying in the community
  • Strategies, barriers and opportunities for innovation

Social Innovation Sydney goes to #Amplifyfest

This Friday, 10th June 2011, Social Innovation Sydney is off to the amazing Amplify Festival in Sydney.

We’ve been offered a booth in the expo there by the nice folks at AMP via the lovely @maverickwoman and her team.

The Social Innovation Sydney team will be there all day talking to people about social innovation.

We are also holding a pitchfest at 2.00pm – with three of the social innovation ideas that people worked on at our recent Startup Camp pitching to win a prize.

addressed through local, grass roots actions often requiring design input. The aim of these activities is to create
Griffith has been researching the various roles designers can play in the social innovation sphere through events such as Live Futures 2020 and developing networks like Social Innovation Sydney.
She has been instrumental in forming an Australian node of the international DESIS (design education for social innovation and
sustainability) Network in Australia and has created a new elective course, Nexus Studio, to support this. Those attending this talk may find opportunities for research collaboration in any of these activities.
